So this is my last weekend before I start working on my clinical hours to finish up my master's degree in counseling. While I am truly excited, I'm also a little scared and frustrated. I really don't know what I'm getting into and my site supervisor seems to be one of those people who is always crazy busy and is hard to nail down. I'm frustrated because the site that I'll be working at doesn't necessarily have "set" hours and Zech is one of those people who needs "organization" and by organization, I mean a regular schedule.
Today we helped an old family friend celebrate her graduation from high school!!! Congrats Jordan!! It was a great party! White's Chicken for dinner, with some awesome baked beans and cheesy potatoes for sides! They even had a huge slip-and-slide for the kids... definitely an idea I plan to pocket and use for a birthday party sometime!!! They used a huge piece of plastic and a sprinkler and then built a "pond" - puddle - at the end of the of the plastic using bales of hay underneath the plastic. Again, Congrats Jordan! May this only be the beginning of good things for you!

Catching Up - The Last 9 months
So, it's been awhile since I've posted - things have been crazy around here... here is a re-cap of the last nine months.
November 2009 - we traveled to Byron, MN to buy a wood furnace - yes, we are going to heat with wood this coming winter... We stayed with Zech's cousins - Jamie, Buddy and their son, Gabe while we were there, oh yeah, and Ripley too. We spent one day up at the Mall of America. It was a great time!
In December, we celebrated Abigail's first Christmas and her first 6 months of life. It was great! I can't wait for next year, when she really understands what to do with the wrapping paper. After Christmas, Zech and I started our own business - Zech is doing consulting for companies on the software he used to work with - and he started working for ISGN on a contractual basis again.
January 2010 - I (Becky) went back to Spring Arbor for my final semester before my clinical experience (Practicum/Internship). Zech continued working for ISGN as a consultant while I was often frustrated by the lack of options for rooms to be in with Abigail since he was working from the living room.
In February, Zech finished out his first contract with ISGN and then took a one week breather from working. While stressful, working with ISGN again brought him back into the viewfinders of some of the clients that he had worked with while there and many of them asked for his contact information for after his contract was up. At the end of February, he started a second contract with ISGN - this contract lasted through approximately the first week of April.
March 2010 - Zech began working on a long term contract with a client in Washington state and I continued to go to class and be a Mommy.
In April, Zech finished his second and last contract with ISGN and on April 15 left for a long term contract with a client in Walla Walla, WA.
Between April 15 and June 19 Abigail got 4 teeth, started crawling and also sleeping through the night in her own bed. I (Becky) renewed a past friendship with Makendra Klobuchar - who I used to babysit - and we started having play dates for Abigail and her daughter Bailey who is about 6 months older. Abigail has also enjoyed playing with her cousins Albin and Colin Fuller (their mom, Katie, is my cousin).
After 10 1/2 looooong weeks, Zech returned home on June 19. Just 6 days before Abigail's first birthday. We finished planning her first birthday party and cleaning the house and yard so we could have it here. It was a great success. She had about 45 guests including Albin, Colin, & Bailey along with her cousins, Ella, Amelia, & Nora (Steve & Paula's girls) and the respective parents and the Williams family (Manda, Jason, Luke (who she loves 'cause he's hilarious), Molly, Samuel, Teague, and Charlotte (who is her best friend at church - even though she's younger)). Also attending were Gary & Peggy Swartzlander, Nate & Sarah Swartzlander, Aunt Anna Ingiosi - who was up from Arizona, Aunt Sarah, Aunt Julia, & Uncle Isaac, Grandma Linda & Grandpa Doug Scott, Great Grandpa & Grandma Shaulis, Great Grandpa and Grandma Scott, Great Grandma Faraday, Uncle Tom & Elaine Faraday, Matt & Naomi Faraday, Susanna Faraday, & Mick and Ellie Forsyth. She received several toys - most of which make noise, but she loves them all and has even figured out how to take a picture with her "camera" and listen to music on her "mp3 player." She also received a ton of clothes - most of which have already been worn - especially the sundresses in all of this heat.
Zech has resumed playing softball with our church team and is slowly getting back into the swing of being home. Abigail is also slowly adjusting to having Daddy around all the time again, but she's coming around and starting to play with him again.
We went to Indian Lake Nazarene camp ground for the Fourth of July. It was fun, but not really what Zech expected and because he was feeling the need to be home to get some work done on a couple of new contracts, we came home early.
Last night we celebrated my mom's 50th birthday. We surprised her by having dinner planned and inviting Grandma MaryLou & Grandpa Paul and Aunt Rita & Uncle Fred. The only people missing were Thomas - he stayed in Arizona and Jonathan - he's off at Basic Training for the Marines. Her gift was money towards her ticket out to San Diego to see Jonathan graduate.
Well, we are now up to date on the lives of the Shaulis's. Hopefully, I will do better updating from here on out.
